About Cate Lemmond

Career highlights past and present

The founding president and CEO of the nonprofit veterinary hospital Anicira, Cate Lemmond is dedicated to ending animal suffering and helping companion animals receive high-quality veterinary care. After graduating with a master's degree in animals and public policy from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine Center for Animals, Cate opened the Shenandoah Valley Spay/Neuter Clinic in 2005.

Cate is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator with the Association of Animal Welfare Advancement, which taught her the core competencies of a high-level manager in animal sheltering. She is also a Certified Veterinary Hospital Manager (CVPM), the highest credential level that professional veterinary managers can achieve.

Cate rebranded the organization in 2016 to become Anicira Veterinary Center. The clinic now has three locations, two in Virginia, in Harrisonburg and Manassas, and one in San Diego, California. She is in charge of the organization’s strategy and developing and implementing all programs and services.

When she is not pursuing her passion for animals and their wellbeing, she enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, and watching an Oscar award-winning movie.
